Farmers & Merchants Bank of Central California provides Online & Mobile Banking through a third party provider who is a leader in the industry. They are constantly developing and implementing security enhancements to ensure the integrity of our Online Banking system.

All Online & Mobile Banking activity uses secure connections. Utilizing the latest Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology, all transmissions of web pages and data between F&M Bank's Online Banking and its customers are completely encrypted and are unreadable to any person or group trying to "intercept" the transmission. TLS encryption is the industry standard and is commonly used in Internet applications that require security and privacy for sensitive data.

Passwords: For customers that are already enrolled with Online & Mobile Banking, they are required to enter their username and password. If the customer forgets their username or password, they can recover their login information by selecting “Forgot?” located on the login screen.

If a user has too many failed attempts, an error message will appear on screen and their Online & Mobile Banking account will be locked for 24-hours. If a user receives the error message and requires assistance, please contact us at (800) 888-1498, M-F, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, PT.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): To mitigate the threat of guessed or stolen credentials, Online & Mobile Banking has an extra layer of security and requires an additional login step in which the user is sent a verification code by phone, email, text or an authenticator app such as Authy to validate their identity.

Passkey: Customers have the option to login to Online & Mobile Banking securely by using their device’s biometric capability (face ID, fingerprint, etc.) to authenticate their identity in a single step.

Session time-out: If a customer fails to keep the session active in Online & Mobile Banking, the user will automatically be logged out after a set amount of time and will need to re-enter their login credentials after these timeout periods.

Account Number Masking and Pseudo Account Names: For security reasons, account number(s) will never appear on the computer screen or mobile device.  When the account number is displayed it is truncated and just the last four digits are shown.  Account names are used (example: Checking) and can be changed by the customer when logged into Online/Mobile Banking.

The evolving nature of the Internet makes it impossible to guarantee absolute confidentiality in all circumstances. However, F&M Bank continues to monitor and review the security procedures that our third party provider has in place to protect customer information. These measures are updated as practices change and new technology becomes available.

If you have any questions regarding these policies and procedures, please contact us at (800) 888-1498, M-F, 8am-6pm, PT.
